There are lots of ways to add a little more vertical storage to your tiny bathroom. See the wall plans below for some ideas. Would any of these work in your apartment, condo, or small home?
Under the sink and above the toilet
Your tiny bathroom may have unused space below the sink or above the toilet. A basket below the sink can serve as a laundry hamper or store extra toilet paper rolls. Adding shelves above the toilet may give every family member room for a basket of the items they use daily.
Outside of the shower
A shower curtain with pockets can store light items, such as bandages, toothpaste, or razors. Or, skip the shower curtain. Hang a second rod a few inches in front of the liner rod and use as a towel bar. Alternatively, hang a shower caddy outside of the shower and assign each person one of the baskets.
Behind the bathroom door
The blank wall behind your open bathroom door may not be dead space. Ledge shelves made for picture frames are deep enough for most toiletries. A rail of hooks with hanging baskets can store hair ties, extra toilet paper, menstrual products, and more.
Above the bathroom door
Take a look at the wall above the bathroom door. If you have at least 12 inches, you have room for a deep wall shelf here.
In the hallway outside of the bathroom
Check out the hallway wall just outside of your tiny bathroom. At the very least, you might be able to hang everyone’s bath towel here. There may even be room for a low unit just deep enough to store a caddy of supplies for each family member.
Down the hall in the bedrooms
When all else fails, have each family member keep their bath towel and personal toiletries in their bedroom. It’s easy enough to carry both to the tiny bathroom when it’s time to bathe.
I hope at least one of these small space ideas helps you! Feel free to leave a comment below.
